A Spanish and a Chilean met in Amsterdam. Together they decided to make the leap to go to Chile and change their way of life. Rocío and Marcelo wandered from South
to North, backpacking to off the beaten track spots, hitchhiking by gravel side
roads…and then, they arrived in a bus full of locals at a small and totally
out-of-the-way village that wasn´t even on the map: Huelmo.

They stayed there and throughout the months, they learnt to fish with
their neighbour Sigi, señora Laura taught them how to make bread, they
got to know birds and native  trees and above all, they observed how
villagers lived from the land, their livestock and the sea.

From then on, Rocío and Marcelo lived in a humble way, working
with nature (not against it) using Permaculture and
bio-building techniques and trying to reduce their
environmental impact.

And still looking for a land for living, they got it
in the heart of Patagonia, on the shores of
General Carrera lake: Puerto Guadal. Here
they found a place where they could
learn from local culture, where
they could create new projects
and meet people from all
over the world.
